1. Cleveland Cavaliers
Tenz: Nerlens Noel
- Though I personally think Alex Len is the better overall player, I don't think Cleveland passes up Nerlens Noel here. He addresses their need for defense, ranking 25th in defensive rebounding percentage & 29th in blocked shots.
Randall: Nerlens Noel
- I don't see the Cavs picking anyone besides Noel. His upside is too high, even with the ACL injury. I personally would trade the pick to try to get a veteran Center to team up with Kyrie Irving.
2. Orlando Magic
Tenz: Victor Oladipo
- The Magic ranked 30th in free throw attempts & 30th in forced turnover percentage. Their backcourt is almost non-existent, which Jameer Nelson off the books next year & Aaron Afflalo likely to be traded. This isn't a PG heavy draft so SG is best option. Though Ben McLemore is projected to be in the top 3 picks, Victor Oladipo addresses these needs directly & has just as much upside as McLemore
Randall: Ben McLemore
- Ben McLemore would be a great fit for the Magic's system and I think this kid has the potential to be the go-to guy for ORL. He's been getting Ray Allen comparisons and I'm not sold on that but he's super athletic with a reliable jumper. Solid pick at 2.
3. Washington Wizards
Tenz: Otto Potter
- Washington would have a hell of a backcourt by drafting Otto Porter at #3. Might be the best overall player in the draft. He has a motor, shooting ability, makes plays on defense & doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Ideal size for an NBA small forward at 6'8
Randall: Otto Porter
- John Wall, Brad Beal and Otto Porter... Enough said. If the Wizards know what's good, they'd keep the Georgetown standout in Washington with the number 3 pick.
4. Charlotte Bobcats
Tenz: Ben McLemore
- This is where Charlotte will have to make a hell of a decision. If Ben McLemore is still available & with Victor Oladipo still available, who do you pick? I think Ben McLemore is more ready right now to contribute as far as scoring. His athleticism and defensive potential is underrated. Him, Kemba Walker & Michael Kidd-Gilchrist would make for a great young nucleus in Charlotte for the future.
Randall: Victor Oladipo
- Don't take this the wrong way... But Oladipo reminded me a lot of the UNC Michael Jordan in his years at Indiana. Not saying he'll emerge like MJ in the pros but he's super athletic, can handle the ball, has a decent jumper and is the best on ball defender in the draft by far. Can be developed into a monster player. MJ and the Hornets will get a steal at 4 with Victor Oladipo.
5. Phoenix Suns
Tenz: Trey Burke
- The Suns really need a wing player, ranking 28th in three-point percentage & turnover percentage. McLemore will most likely be taken, so they might take Trey Burke as a value pick & trade him.
Randall: Trey Burke
- Burke is the best PG in the draft. With the Suns losing Steve Nash last summer why not reload with Burke? Can score and create shots for others. Will be an elite PG in the NBA.
6. New Orleans Pelicans
Tenz: Anthony Bennett
- The Pelicans have Eric Gordon, Greivis Vasquez & Austin Rivers making up their backcourt. They could use a starter like Trey Burke here but they need a SF. Anthony Bennett can play the 3 and 4 at 6'7 and seems like the logical choice here
Randall: Alex Len
- With Anthony Davis at the PF the Pelicans need another big man to compliment him. Len would be perfect. Big, athletic C that can also defend his position.
7. Sacramento Kings
Tenz: Shabazz Muhammad
- Tyreke Evans will be a free agent this offseason & is likely to go to another team, but they still have Marcus Thornton and room to get more players. Their biggest need is a SF and Shabazz would be the best fit here.
Randall: Anthony Bennett
8. Detroit Pistons
Tenz: Michael Carter-Williams
- The Pistons have needs that won't be addressed in this draft, especially in the backcourt. They'll either have to trade up or do free agency shopping. But if he's available, Michael Carter-Williams is the best pick, and possibly the steal of the draft. The Pistons rank 24th in defensive efficiency and defense and ball handling is Carter-Williams strengths.
Randall: Cody Zeller
- The Pistons have a whole lot of work to do and this draft won't be a huge help but with Greg Monroe at the 4, Cody Zeller would be a great addition to that front court.
9. Minnesota Timberwolves
Tenz: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
- The T-Wolves could definitely use a perimeter scorer who can create shots for himself, ranking 30th in three-point percentage & 25th in offensive efficiency. Caldwell-Pope fills that need at SG & is a good enough rebounder to play SF too.
Randall: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
10. Portland Trailblazers
Tenz: C.J. McCollum
- Portland has the reputation for drafting the small-school guy that's overlooked. He'd be a great role player backing up Damian Lillard or Wesley Matthews depending on whether you have him playing the 1 or 2. I think he's better suited as 2 since he's a great scorer and not really a floor general.
Randall: Shabazz Muhammad
- Shabazz is one of the best overall players in this years draft. His draft stock has fallen because of his attitude. I think he'd be a great fit for the Blazers. With Lillard and the point and Aldridge at the 4 Muhammad would be a third guy on the court that could create his own shot.
11. Philadelphia 76ers
Tenz: Steven Adams
Randall: C.J McCollum
- C.J is a great combo guard. I think he'd fit in perfect with Jrue Holiday and Evan Turner. He can shoot the ball as well as handle the ball. Would make that backcourt a hell of a lot better.
12. Oklahoma City Thunder (from Raptors)
Tenz: Kelly Olynyk
Randall: Steven Adams
13. Dallas Mavericks
Tenz: Dennis Schroeder
Randall: Michael Carter-Williams
14. Utah Jazz
Tenz: Shane Larkin
Randall: Kelly Olynyk
