SHOULD LEBRON GO BACK TO CLEVELAND IN 2014?

After that Game 6 at Boston in the 2010 Playoffs, LeBron walks off the court & does something that many, including myself, saw as a sign of something to come. Almost right on cue, Mike Breen says "Cleveland fans wonder if this is this the last time he takes off a Cavaliers jersey"

On July 8th, 2010, Cleveland fans got their answer as they watched "The Decision", where LeBron would announce that he's going to Miami. The "King" left his hometown team & had to watch his former fans burn his jersey and express their hatred & disappointment of him selling out the people....his people. It's been over 2 years since that night, and the wounds from "The Decision" have healed greatly. People have gotten over it & the possibility of LeBron going back has been talked about. We'll debate.

Tenz: Business and career wise, going to Miami is the best thing LeBron has ever done. He made this all work to his advantage and his brand is bigger than ever. He's gotten better as an overall player. He has no weakness in his game, and if you find one, you're probably just finding a reason to hate. But with all that said, I think he should go back to Cleveland (depending on if him, Dan Gilbert & the fans can all repair their relationship). Think about it like this, without LeBron leaving, they wouldn't have been able to get Kyrie Irving. Imagine those two playing together..

Cleveland should have plenty of cap space in 2014. Kyrie Irving will be a free agent but with a team option. Assuming that Cleveland will pick up the option, he'll be there for one more year under contract. If LeBron goes back to Cleveland, you have to think Kyrie Irving will remain in Cleveland after that year is up. Even with those two signed to max contracts, they should have enough to sign one or more good players in free agency. It'd make for an interesting end to this story, I'd like to see it happen. Will it though? Probably not.

Maz: Instead of beating around the bush, my answer is just NO. Business wise, Miami wasn't LeBron's best choice. New York would've been better had it been for business but Lebron truly wanted to win. Dan Gilbert probably feels like an idiot for his comment on Cleveland winning a ring before LeBron does and I dont ever see him and LeBron working together, ever again. To make the point of Kyrie and LeBron playing together would be so interesting and would be hell of a show but it would be like Miami in the first year they put the big three together. They wouldnt have a bench and Kyrie and LeBron would make a run for sure but it would fall short. In my opinion leaving Cleveland was the greatest choice for LeBron and it was honestly great to watch him win a ring although it was against my favorite team but I do see LeBron ending his career with Miami and if not miami just another big market team that'll give him the money but i dont think a return to Cleveland is even a thought. As far as Clevefand fans go, I'm sure they'll kiss his ass if he was to return and claim they didn't burn his jersey or throw it out but hey that's sports and people stop this argument that LeBron doesn't deserve his ring because he left Cleveland and joined Wade & Bosh.

Randall: I don't think LeBron should, or will, go back to Cleveland in 2014. After the way he left the franchise in 2010 I don't see Dan Gilbert swallowing his pride enough to even think about it. And if I was LeBron, I wouldn't want to play for Gilbert anymore than Gilbert doesn't want me on his payroll. When LeBron made "The Decision" to take his talents to South Beach Gilbert compared the situation to that of a slave owner and a slave, basically calling LeBron (and other players alike) slaves. That's highly disrespectful and racist and for that reason alone I wouldn't entertain the thought of returning to the Cavs, if I were LeBron. I've never been a LeBron or Cavs fans but living in Ohio I can tell you that Cavs fans would welcome him back with open arms. The first year after his departure was filled with hatred and bitterness but after LeBron's poor performance in the 2010 NBA Finals which ultimately lead to the Miami Heat losing the championship Cleveland fans felt like justice was done. The drafting and emergence of Kyrie Irving helped lighten the blow as well. Kyrie and Lebron would be exciting to watch every night on the court and Cleveland will have the cap space to swing deals and make it happen but I don't think the we will see it. If LeBron leaves Miami, and that's a big if, there will be multiple teams with cap room. Teams in bigger cities at that. I see the Cavs making a run at Kevin Love and/or other young superstars that want to play with Kyrie. The LeBron/Cleveland days are behind us.
